Notes for Release 9.0.04.0

hpCommerce Orion Release Notes

Build 9.0.04.0

Released May 10, 2023

New Features and Functionality

  • You can now control the Product Label Type at the Workstation level
You can now override the System default Product Label Type by specifying a default at the workstation level.  You can set the default Product Label Type via Printing Setup and Defaults [S-F2].  You can now override this for each workstation by setting a different default via Workstation Settings [M-W].  Use the Default Label Format Override option to select a different default.  Once this is set this will become the default label type whenever labels are printed at this workstation.  This allows you to streamline printing labels when you have different label printers and label stock at different workstations.

  • Issued Production Orders now commit component inventory for BOM's
When you Issue a Production Order [M-U] for a BOM Orion will now commit (Available is reduced) any required component inventory for production.  As production is posted against the Production Order the component inventory is then relieved (On-hand is reduced).  If a Production Order is closed before it is fully produced then the left over commitments will be released back to Available.  This is a great new feature to help you fully understand your inventory availability situation.  It ties up the needed inventory to complete issued Production Orders.  This feature is turned on via the Kit and BOM Preferences form [S-K] by setting the Commit Inventory When Issuing Production Order option to YES.

  • Quick access to inventory committed to Production Orders
At your fingertips you can now quickly and easily list all Production Orders that commit inventory for a given part number.  This has been added to several locations in Orion.  For instance when viewing a part via [L-L] Part Number Maintenance you can access [F9-Shift-F6] to view Open Production Orders.

  • You can now report Negative Quantity Available
A new report allow you to see items that have negative Quantity Available.  This new report is Negative Qty Available [M-L-F1-2].  This new report is great for procurement and production planning to help you to quickly identify items that are on order but have less than ZERO available.

  • You can now control the Payment Type assigned to imported WooCommerce orders
Orion has an amazing WooCommerce integration.  To learn more see our extensive WooCommerce integration HERE.  You can now control the incoming Payment Type and default it to a set type by using the "Payment Type Override" option on the Configure WooCommerce Integration form [M-E-W-2].

  • Lead Time has been added to the Vendor Master
A new data field called Lead Time (days) has been added to the Vendor Master [F].  Lead Time is a critical component of production planning and product acquisition planning.  You can now use Orion to capture and save this important metric.

Improvements to existing Features

  • Kit and BOM Maintenance forms now have access to eCommerce tools
These forms [M-H-B] for Kits and [M-D-B] for BOM's now have access to the full set of eCommerce tools that Part Maintenance [L-L] does.  This means that when you "zoom" to these forms from other forms to look at an item's details you can now view and work with this information too.  The list of new access includes Part Images, Part Categorizations, Full Description, Tech Details, Recommended Accessories, Attachments, Shipping Options and Note/Warning.

  • Sales Order Type can now be controlled when creating Sales Order from a Quote
You can now specify the order type to create when creating a Sales Order from a Quote.  You can control this feature via a new setting on the Invoice / Sales Order Preference form [S-F7-F3].  The new option is called "So from Quote Order Type".  Options are Sales Order, Future Order and ASK.  By setting this option you control the Order Type of the Sales Order that gets created from a Quote.

  • Print Product Labels for all items via Pick Verification
Now you can select an item while in the Sales Order [M-P-1] or Invoice [M-P-2] queues of Pick Verification and print all of the labels for all of the items on these orders.  The option is [F8] Print Labels on these forms.  This is a very convenient option for printing product labels if you process flow dictates that labels are needed at this stage of the process.

  • List Price can now be updated when updating Quote Pricing
You will now be asked when updating Quote Pricing if you want to update the List Price too.  It is nice to have the option of choosing whether or not to do this.  There are some cases where you want to update pricing for a customer but leave List Pricing at specially created prices.

  • Production Order Commitments are now included in reporting
When Production Orders for BOM's are Issued Orion can now commit the component inventory needed to fulfill the Production Order.  Orion's reports that report committed inventory have been updated to include reporting of inventory committed to Production Orders.  Affected reports include but are not limited to the Committed Report [M-L-F1-D],  the Inventory Aging Detail report [M-L-F1-B], the Inventory Audit Worksheet [M-L-F1-F4] and the Negative On-Hand Report [M-L-F1-T].

  • Min/Max Maintenance Grid has been Enhanced
The On Shelf Min / Max Levels option [L-K-5] has had several options added.  Rolling 12 month total usage has been added for quick reference, Reorder Point which is editable has been added and Reorder Quantity which is editable has been added too.  This form has now become a great one stop location for bulk maintenancing of this type of product information.

  • New Zebra Product Labels
Two new label formats have been added to the available Zebra printer options.  Both labels are 1.5 by 2.5.  These are labels #27 and #28.
