hpCommerce Orion includes an amazing Surcharge Fee System for assessing a fee for payment processing or even a credit for different payment types.  You can configure different fees for different credit cards and even have a "cash back" program for cash payments.  To learn more about this easy use system see more below.

IntroductionWith Orion's Surcharge Fee System you can configure a processing fee for all payment types.  Each payment type is handled separately.  You can specify if processing fees are taxable and you can even control how these fees are named.  The default is "Surcharge Fee" but you can modify this to be compliant with whatever your fees need to be called.  For each payment type you can specify:

  • If the fee amount is to be a flat fee or a percentage
  • The Fee Amount
  • If the fee is to be applied Automatically or if your are to be "Asked" each time a fee is to be applied.
  • You can even specify that NO fee is to be applied.

You can control Security.  Security settings allow you to specify if the fees can be edited and forgiven by the user and if so what security level is required to do this.

And finally all of this Surcharge Fee activity is carried through to reporting.  You can easily see the fees assessed during any period of time on multiple reports.

How to Apply Surcharge FeesBased on how you have configured Surcharge Fees for different payment methods the application of these fees during payment processing can be completely automatic.  No need to do any calculating, Orion handles all of the proper calculations for you.  And if you have set the fees up to be automatic there are absolutely no additional steps to apply these fees during payment processing.  To see different types of payment processing examples in action watch this video.
